We can safely say that the year of 2016 was about AJ Styles. He made his WWE debut and became one of the most popular superstars on the roster, if not the most popular. Even though he was a heel for the better part of the year, the fans loved him and wanted him to succeed. The same can be said for Braun Strowman in 2017. There is no doubt that he is the MVP of the year in the WWE.
Now, let’s take a look at the stars that have a good breakout potential in 2018.
The Artist is still one of the most popular stars in the WWE even though the company has dropped the ball with him over the past couple of months. Him being built up during Wrestlemania season and taking the WWE Championship from AJ Styles at Wrestlemania 34 in an amazing match is going to make him look like main event caliber star for years to come. He can be the face of Smackdown Live, no doubt about that.
Drifters has been great in his role on Monday Night Raw. All of his mini-feuds have been interesting, and his mic skills are pretty good. The looks, in-ring performance, and the character are there. All that he needs now is a push from the WWE. Make him look important, make him look dominant. If the company does this, Elias is going to be a big-time player in 2018.
This is by far the most interesting one. There is a lot of potential in this guy. Make him the next Daniel Bryan. He was a heel before becoming the most over superstar in the recent memory. Have Zayn be a heel for a while and then have Kevin Owens screw him over. Again. Then, build Zayn up as an underdog babyface that he is and the fans are going to do the rest in making him a main-event caliber talent. Do it WWE, you know it makes sense.
