Goldberg Comments On The Ending Of Asuka’s Undefeated Streak

WWE News: Goldberg comments on the ending of Asuka’s undefeated streak

What’s the story?
In a recent interview with The New York Post, WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg weighed in his thoughts on Asuka’s undefeated streak in the WWE finally coming to an end at WrestleMania 34.

In case you didn’t know…
At WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans, ‘The Queen’ Charlotte Flair, successfully defended her SmackDown Live Women’s Championship against ‘The Empress of Tomorrow’ Asuka, in what was her WrestleMania debut.

Following Flair’s win over Asuka at ‘Mania 34, ‘The Queen’ also became the first ever Superstar in the WWE to successfully defeat the Japanese sensation, who eventually tapped out to the Figure 8 and lost a match in the WWE for the very first time in 914 days.

The heart of the matter
Former WWE Universal Champion Goldberg is a Superstar who is somewhat familiar to undefeated streaks and while speaking with The New York Post, the recently inducted WWE Hall of Famer noted that seeing Asuka lose her streak at WrestleMania 34 was really hard to witness. (H/T: Still Real To Us)

In addition, however, Goldberg did claim that it was really an amazing accomplishment for Asuka on her behalf and it was truly unbelievable to see her continue her hot undefeated streak for a total of an astonishing 914 days.

“It’s a really cool accomplishment. It’s unbelievable, but there comes a time when you kind of question its tenure and when is it the right time to break it. Who is the right person to break it? I think it was done properly. I do. I think the pressure has been taken off of her. There was a lot of pressure on me at the end of the streak.”

What’s next?
As noted, on this week’s edition of Smackdown Live, Asuka finally joined the Smackdown Live roster as part of the Superstar Shake-up and judging by her actions from this week’s episode of SD Live, it now seems like WWE is currently heading towards a potential Six-woman tag team match between The IIconics and Carmella vs Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and Asuka.

Author’s Take
Personally, I was really hoping to see Asuka extend her streak on the main roster and eventually capture the Women’s Title from either brand on the main roster as well. However, as of right now, all we could hope for is that WWE books Asuka with perfection despite her streak coming to an end.

Further Details On John Cena And Nikki Bella’s Breakup

WWE News: Further details on John Cena and Nikki Bella’s breakup

John Cena

What’s the story?
People Magazine is reporting on more information that has been revealed regarding the break-up between John Cena and Nikki Bella. A source told the magazine several details regarding the split, as well as when the marriage was supposed to take place.

In case you didn’t know…
John Cena proposed publicly to Nikki Bella at the conclusion of their mixed-tag match against The Miz and Maryse at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando. Take a look at that moment from the YouTube clip below:

The heart of the matter
The break-up occurred just weeks before Cena and Bella were set to marry on May 5th in Mexico. It was confirmed that it was Cena’s decision to end the six-year relationship.

The source who spoke with People Magazine stated that Cena started to get cold feet as the wedding day approached. This source would also go into further detail below:

“She never gave him an ultimatum. He talked a really good game about having changed, about having his priorities straight, about knowing what’s important, and that it was her. But as the day got closer, it was like he just went back to who he’s always been — which is someone who puts himself first, always,” the insider says. “He’s an incredibly dedicated, driven, ambitious guy. And for the longest time he said he didn’t think he had room in his life for a spouse or kids. It seems like in the end that was still the truth.”
The source told People that if that was the case, he never should have proposed to her in front of millions of people at WrestleMania 33. As a result of this, Nikki is “heartbroken” and ended the interview with the following statement:

“In wrestling there are two archetypes: faces and heels,” the source explains. “A face is a good guy, a hero, who you root for. A heel is a villain, who sometimes can seem like a good guy but then turns around and shows his true, evil colors. John Cena just revealed himself as the ultimate heel.”
The ex-couple released a statement via social media on Sunday evening stating:

“While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives.”
Cena also posted the following on his Twitter account on Monday morning:

What’s next?
Stay tuned to Sportskeeda for any further updates regarding John Cena and Nikki Bella. Cena is scheduled to take part in the Greatest Royal Rumble; which takes place on April 27th from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where he will face Triple H.

Author’s take
It is too bad that there isn’t going to be a fairytale ending to this story. If anyone paid attention to this relationship through Total Bellas or Total Divas, you would know it was tough for Cena to get past the fact that he didn’t want kids or get married again for the longest time.

Nikki Bella didn’t take part in the WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royale but was present at ringside and backstage.

Both John Cena and Nikki Bella are working on non-WWE related projects right now.

Author’s take
It’s sad to see John Cena and Nikki Bella break up, especially after last year’s engagement. We wish them the best.

As per announced by MCW Pro Wrestling, WWE veteran and legends of the Pro Wrestling business, Shawn Michaels, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and Sean Waltman have now all been confirmed to appear at MCW’s upcoming event, which is slated to take place this Saturday.

In case you didn’t know…
Shawn Michaels, Sean Waltman, Scott Hall, and Kevin Nash—along with WWE COO Triple H—were all previously a part of a backstage group in the WWF known as The Kliq.

During their initial days in the WWF, The Kliq imposed an immense amount of power within the company at the time and the group was also the primary catalyst for two of wrestling’s most popular stables DX and the New World Order.

The heart of the matter
MCW Wrestling have confirmed that they will make their return to the MCW Arena located in 1000 Joppa Farm RD in Joppa, Maryland this Saturday for their ‘Tribute to The Legends’ show featuring WWE Hall of Famers Shawn Michaels, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, along with veterans Sean Waltman, Lex Luger, Scott Norton and more. (H/T: EWrestling)

In addition, former WWE superstar Darren Young and current NWA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis have also been confirmed to appear at the event, however, as of right now, the main attraction is definitely towards the upcoming reunion of The Kliq, as Shawn Michaels and co. get set to takeover MCW Pro Wrestling on the 21st of April.

What’s next?
As aforementioned, MCW: Tribute to The Legends will take place tomorrow night at the MCW Arena in Maryland and the convention will begin at 11 am and the event will initially kick-off at 7 pm.

Author’s Take
The Kliq has certainly broken all sorts of barriers in the Pro Wrestling world and personally, I’m all excited to see them reunite once again, even though the “The Game” Triple H will be missing out on this one.

The Rock Reveals His Original WrestleMania 34 Plans

WWE News: Original plans for The Rock at WrestleMania 34 revealed

What’s the story?
The Rock sat down with KISS FM UK for an interview and revealed that he was supposed to be a part of WrestleMania 34. We thank Fightful for the update.

The initial plans were to have him tag with Ronda Rousey and take on Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in Rousey’s debut WWE match. Kurt Angle was finally chosen as her tag team partner.

In case you didn’t know…
The Rock and Ronda Rousey were part of an interesting segment at WrestleMania 31, where they teamed up to take out ‘The Authority’. Fast forward three years later and Ronda Rousey is a full-fledged WWE superstar.

Rousey and Angle did manage to form a formidable team and have perhaps the best match at WrestleMania. However, if The Rock is to be believed, such was never the initial plan.

The heart of the matter
The Rock spoke about interactions with Vince McMahon about possibly teaming up with Rousey:

Matter of fact, Vince McMahon and I were talking about two months ago trying to figure out what I was going to do if I went back to WrestleMania. He pitched me this really great idea that I’d get involved in a tag match with Ronda Rousey who is of course incredible and I’m very proud of her.
Sadly, the idea never materialized because of a scheduling conflict, but The Rock did not rule out a future alliance:

We couldn’t make it work this time because I was in Shanghai. But, who knows down the line? What’s next?
The Rock is the biggest movie star in the world. We do not expect him to be a part of WWE until one of the bigger pay-per-views eventually does come around. It’s heartening to see that he never rules out the idea of an appearance, though!

Author’s take
I was happy with how it all eventually turned out. Angle was a great partner for Rousey and I’m glad he had a WrestleMania match after so long.

I wonder what the plans for Angle would have been had Jason Jordan not been injured before WrestleMania.

Stone Cold Unhappy About Controversial Booking Decision At Wrestlemania 34

WWE News: Stone Cold reveals his opinion on Nicholas winning the Tag Team Championships

What’s the story?
WWE Legend, Stone Cold Steve Austin recently spoke about Wrestlemania 34 on a podcast and touched upon WWE’s decision to have Braun Strowman team up with a 10-year old fan, Nicholas and defeat The Bar to win the RAW Tag Team Championships.

In case you didn’t know…
Wrestlemania 34 took place on the 8th of April and saw some major upsets as Asuka’s undefeated streak came to an end at the hands of Charlotte Flair and The Undertaker managed to defeat John Cena in under 5 minutes.

However, what many people found the most surprising booking decision was Strowman tagging with a 10-year old child chosen from the audience to defeat Cesaro and Sheamus in the second last match of the night.

The heart of the matter
Autin has been known to give his honest opinion on matters and has never held back in criticizing WWE if he feels displeased. The same was the case when he stated what he felt about WWE deciding to team Strowman with Nicholas at Wrestlemania 34: (credit: Wrestling Inc)

“Braun Strowman is over like rover, a lot of potential, a lot of momentum, a lot of great storylines for him. But the fact that he goes out there in the crowd and picks some kid, it’s almost like a disservice to Cesaro and Sheamus, who’ve been working their asses off. Two physical specimens, have really gotten some chemistry together as a team. Not to be taken lightly. Braun’s a big guy, but you know, Cesaro’s one of the strongest guys in the locker room. Sheamus is a brute.“They can’t monetize this person who was picked from the crowd. And, I don’t know, I wasn’t really down with it, and that’s with respect to a damn good tag team like The Bar. And then Strowman picks someone [from the crowd], I just, man you’re walking a fine line with him, because you have this brute force killer who’s legitimately one of the biggest, strongest men in the world. It didn’t do much for me.”What’s next?
It is unclear at this point as to what direction the WWE is planning to take Strowman as he has already relinquished the Tag Team Championships.

Author’s take
I completely agree with Stone Cold on his opinion on the matter. While many feel it was a feel-good moment and was meant to give a light tinge to the show before the grueling match between Lesnar and Reigns; it did more harm than good, in actuality.

It wasn’t worth a Wrestlemania match, that too one which was so highly anticipated by the fans. It would have been a fun segment on a house show or maybe even RAW, but the Biggest Show of the year should be treated a bit more seriously.

5 Great Feuds That Can Happen As A Result Of The Superstar Shakeup

The completion of the second Superstar Shakeup of the current brand split era happened this week with 11 singles competitors, tag teams, and stables coming over to SmackDown Live. The night before on Monday Night Raw, saw 14 wrestlers, tag teams, and stables moving from SmackDown Live or NXT to Monday Night Raw.

The Superstar Shakeup is a way to reset the roster and make things fresh after WrestleMania ever since the brand split in June of 2016. Just like last year, the Shakeup provided many great surprising moments as they set up feuds for the future.

Though some friends and allies were split during the Superstar Shakeup, they will get to see each other once a month as each WWE pay per view will be co-branded going forward starting with Backlash on May 6th.

This article takes a look at five potential feuds that will excite the WWE Universe as a direct result of this week’s Superstar Shakeup. The list will include two potential feuds from Monday Night Raw and three from SmackDown Live.

Continue on to see a GLORIOUS feud that will BURN IT DOWN!

#5 – Bobby Roode vs. Seth Rollins (Monday Night Raw)

Bobb yR

In the main event of Monday Night Raw this week, the final WWE Superstar announced to be joining the red brand was none other than the GLORIOUS Bobby Roode. He was the fifth member of a team consisting of Bobby Lashley, Finn Balor, Seth Rollins, and Braun Strowman.

A potential feud between Roode and Seth Rollins would be amazing. Rollins is one of the most liked babyfaces on the Raw brand currently, and it is only a matter of time before Roode turns heel, where he works best.

Rollins has wrestled professionally for 13 years, Roode for 20, yet they have never crossed paths in one-on-one competition. The 10-man tag match on Monday was the first time Roode and Rollins were in the ring together at the same time for a match.

#4 – SAnitY vs. The Bludgeon Brothers (SmackDown Live)

The quick and dominant ascension of The Bludgeon Brothers is no surprise to anyone in the WWE Universe since they were repackaged as this tag team last October. Six months later Harper and Rowan became the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions at WrestleMania 34.

SAnitY made their debut as a faction in October of 2016 on the NXT brand, and have captured the NXT Tag Team Championships once. The faction is led by Eric Young with Killian Dain and Alexander Wolfe at his side.

While I was hoping for the Authors of Pain to debut on SmackDown Live and clash with The Bludgeon Brothers, I’m perfectly happy to see SAnitY will be there to make just as good of a feud, if not better.

#3 – Jeff Hardy vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (SmackDown Live)

Jeff Hardy made his long-awaited return to the WWE from injury on the Monday Night Raw after WrestleMania last week, and in the week after, he became WWE United States Champion and was moved to SmackDown Live in the Superstar Shakeup.

The move to SmackDown enables Jeff to have a feud with the legendary Shinsuke Nakamura in the future. Just like with Bobby Roode and Seth Rollins, the paths of Hardy and Nakamura have never crossed.

Before WrestleMania, this would be a great feud in itself, but now that Nakamura has turned heel and cannot speak English all of a sudden, there are many more possibilities. This feud needs to happen sometime in the next year.

#2 – WOKEN Matt Hardy vs. Kevin Owens (Monday Night Raw)

A feu

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn joined Monday Night Raw during this week’s Superstar Shakeup in the most unconventional way. They were fired from SmackDown Live but re-hired by Stephanie McMahon to Raw.

A feud between Owens and WOKEN Matt Hardy would be highly entertaining inside and out of the ring. Owens is one of the wittiest WWE Superstars on the roster, and we all know how crazy Hardy is

If Hardy and Bray Wyatt win the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships at the Greatest Royal Rumble on April 27th, Wyatt and Sami Zayn could be added to this feud as well.

Owens and Hardy are not strangers to one another as they had a no disqualification match at Ring Of Honor’s Best In The World pay per view in 2013.

#1 – Daniel Bryan v. The Miz / Samoa Joe / Jeff Hardy (SmackDown Live)

The list of

The best story in professional wrestling this year is the announcement that Daniel Bryan was cleared by the WWE to compete in a WWE ring once again. The announcement created a list of potential dream matches for Bryan to have, and the Superstar Shakeup only added to that list.

Samoa Joe and Bryan can reignite their feud that started in Ring Of Honor over 15 years ago. Jeff Hardy and Bryan can start an entirely new feud as they have never wrestled each other before. Then there is The Miz.

Who can forget the passionate and heated promo The Miz cut on Daniel Bryan on Talking Smack back in 2016? Nearly two years after that event, we will eventually get a payoff on that feud that we never thought would happen.

Bryan specifically asked Raw General Manager Kurt Angle to send The Miz to SmackDown Live to settle the score.

5 Epic Storylines That Could Be Used To End John Cena’s Career

The nature of John Cena’s relationship with the WWE Universe is conflicting, either Cena’s fans love for his awe-inspiring moral code, or they loathe him for his transition from a foul-mouthed badass to a cheesy character.

While WWE could’ve handled Cena’s rise to the pinnacle of the company much better by utilising smart booking strategies rather than consistently pushing him down the fans throats, they have to be commended for creating a worldwide star in a post attitude era.

The word more apt to describe Cena’s role in the company is “megastar,” and that title has been earned through highest merchandise sales, selling out arenas across the world and being a perfect global ambassador for the company.

Therefore, it would not be inaccurate to assume that everytime Cena steps through that curtain, business is about to pick up.

However, with the worldwide fame Cena has gained over the years, WWE knew that one day their brightest star would have to retire from in-ring competition, and that prediction is proving to be true, as Cena has become a part-time superstar in the company.

With WWE trying tirelessly to get another superstar to fill Cena’s role, it is safe to say that no other wrestler right now can eclipse the name, Cena.

Still, when the day does come when Cena finally lays his wrestling career to rest, how will his legendary tenure as a WWE wrestler conclude?

#1 Destroyed, damaged and demolished

Image result for wwe john cena blood

Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Cena, Finn Balor vs. Cena, Braun Srowman vs. Cena was all dream programmes given away on television in an uneventful manner.

WWE has been running through Cena’s dream matches more times than Micheal Cole yells “THE BIG DOG.”

However, those unusual decisions have valid reasoning behind it, and that is the fact that Cena is transitioning from a WWE megastar to a Hollywood superstar.

Moreover, the fact of the matter remains, the more successful Cena’s acting career becomes, the more time he spends away from the company.

The day will come when Cena cant juggle both and has to step away from the world of professional wrestling.

Therefore, that day should see Cena left brutalized in the ring by a new hungry star that can benefit from Cena’s star rub.

With the introduction of NXT in the world of WWE, the company has a plethora wrestlers who have worked their entire career’s to make it to Vince McMahon’s empire, and the majority of those stars are waiting for that moment to break the glass ceiling.

Superstars such as Balor, Drew McIntyre, Bobby Roode and even Andrade “Cien” Almas would launch their careers into the stratosphere by able to call themselves the man that retired Cena.

However, there is one star on WWE’s main roster that can indeed become the central player in the company if WWE gives him the privilege of taking Cena out, and that man is Samoa Joe.

There is something about Joe that is truly rare in the modern era of wrestling, as his character motivations, in-ring ability, and jaw-dropping promos represent a fighter that is truly badass.

Cena vs. Joe is a programme that is long overdue, and by booking this match has Cena’s last, can launch Joe’s career in the company.

#2 A legendary Career vs An Immortal Legacy

A match where these icons put it all on the line.

A match between The Undertaker and Cena could’ve sold out any pay-per-view at any venue around the world ten years ago, as witnessing two of the most celebrated superstars from two distinct generations squaring off in the prime of their careers would’ve surely broken any star rating system.

However, observing a watered down version of the Undertaker versus a less than enthusiastic Cena in a match that felt unnecessary is hugely disappointing.

Moreover, while the in-ring work of those two icons has naturally deteriorated over time, the narrative WWE built was one of the laziest attempts by McMahon’s creative team to garner excitement for one of the last dream matches left in this industry.

However, through all that disappointment, WWE did leave a door open for a truly magnificent build to a rematch down the road, and this rematch could be the perfect way to conclude both Cena’s and Undertaker’s in-ring careers.

While most would suggest this match should be a career vs. career match, that would make no sense, as one of these icons careers is already over.

The narrative of Cena putting his career on the line is a story a wrestling enthusiast can buy into, while Undertaker is at a point in his career where he deserves to retire, as he has given everything he could to this business for the last 30 years.

Therefore, this match could be Cena fighting to keep his dream as a professional wrestler alive while Undertaker is striving to cement himself as the most excellent performer in the history of WrestleMania.

Thus making this high octane drama a career vs. legacy match. Therefore, if Cena loses he leaves the company without becoming a 17-time Wolrd Champion and if the Undertaker losses he adds another strike to his loss column at WrestleMania.

Clear stakes, high drama, two legendary wrestlers, WWE has one of the best retirement stories to send Cena off with an emotional bang.

#3 The Legend Killer returns

Image result for wwe orton vs cena

Randy Orton vs. Cena is a rivalry that WWE would like to claim ranks in wrestling history as one the very best.

However, WWE’s fantasy is far from the truth, as reality has shown the WWE Universe a feud that was overdone, uninteresting and repetitive.

But, how is that possible when these two veterans have fought each other in high stake matches?

The reason is simple, every time these two faced each other they have produced magic inside the ring, but its WWE’s poor storytelling that didn’t allow fans to invest thoroughly.

However, the last time these ruthless aggression era stars could clash, WWE should incorporate the very best in storytelling, in-ring work and nostalgia to give fans a true classic, and this could be a fitting ending to Cena’s career.

However, for this narrative to succeed WWE must get its antagonist spot on, and the only way for Orton to go forward as a ruthless heel in this angle is to have a substantial reason for targeting Cena, and the only way to reach that reason is to bring back “the legend killer.”

Most would say Orton’s iconic legend killer gimmick could only work when he was rookie taking out established veterans, and now that Orton is a legend himself the return of this role would be unnecessary.

However, after WWE retired “the legend killer” and debuted Orton’s “voices” gimmick, his career has gotten more uninteresting every year.

Therefore, this change would not only make a truly spectacular retirement narrative for Cena; it would rejuvenate Orton’s career.

After Orton has been a babyface for many years now his reason for returning as the legend killer can be based on one driving factor that has been critical in his career downfall, his low success rate.

Orton can blame the downhill slope he has been experiencing on veterans because while he was giving younger talent like Jinder Mahal, Roode and Rusev the spotlight to make a name for themselves other legends were selfishly residing at the top of the card, especially veterans such as Cena. This driving force could lead to an exceptional narrative between Cena and Orton.

WWE can use Cena once again to bring Orton to his elite heel level he has fallen from, as Orton ending Cena’s career would make him the most dangerous heel in the company.

Therefore, this decision can allow Orton to give a colossal star rub to a young white hot babyface down the road. This way Cena can give back to the business and retire against his greatest rival in a truly riveting story.

#4 The last hunt for championship gold

Image result for wwe john cena looking at WWE Title

Will he or won’t he? The question of whether Cena would surpass the Nature Boy Ric Flair’s 16 World Title reigns has been a hotly debated topic for the last few years.

Many feel that Cena does not deserve the right to even tie Flair with 16 Wolrd Title reigns, as most of Cena’s reigns have been short, uneventful affairs.

While other Cenation fanatics rebel in Cena’s favour, saying that WWE needs to cement Cena as one of the last true megastars in professional wrestling.

Whether Cena does achieve this enormous feat in his career or WWE leaves one accolade missing from his resume, it could make one of the most significant retirement narratives in WWE history if done to perfection.

When Cena dethroned AJ Styles at the 2017 Royal Rumble pay-per-view, Cena once again received a mix reaction from WWE’s demanding fanbase.

However, even though Cena won his 16th World Title in one of the greatest matches in WWE history, the build to that moment felt artificial, rather than an iconic moment that made fans emotionally invest.

Therefore, this is a narrative WWE cannot rush, as it might ruin the emotional arc this storyline has to earn. As the build of this narrative needs a critical theme for it to succeed, desperation.

If WWE wants, to be honest, there is nothing left for Cena to do in WWE, besides break Flair’s record. Thus, Cena’s desperation to do so before he entirely heads into Hollywood can be the driving force behind this historical narrative.

WWE can have Cena lose number one contender matches, win the Money in the Bank but fail to cash it in successfully, be the last man eliminated from the Royal Rumble and lose his last chance inside the Elimination Chamber. Therefore, when Cena does succeed and stand across the WWE champion at Wrestlemania, fans would not be on the edge of their seats but standing on their feet.

#5 The way down

Image result for wwe cena heel

Cena’s struggle story to get onto the Wrestlemania 34 match card was an excellent narrative done wrong, as the company expected fans to buy into the notion that Cena’s invincibility is suddenly non-existent.

Even though Cena lost multiple matches to mid-card talent, breakout stars and glorified main eventers, WWE’s abrupt booking of his last run left little to be desired and caught many wrestling aficionados off guard

While WWE wanted to present Cena at his lowest of lows, implying he is not the man that he once was, a little losing streak is the worst way to illustrate that idea.

If WWE analysed the character of Cena before booking him as the ‘lovable’ loser, they would’ve found out that they can go deeper and darker into his frustrations, failures and regret when booking him as a man that has nothing to lose.

Beyond all that brightly coloured merchandise, WWE can reveal to the world a man that has given up, believes he is disrespected and feels betrayed because the most significant Cena retirement storyline WWE can do, is a fully-fledged heel turn.

Ah, the infamous Cena heel turn, that the WWE Universe has demanded for the last ten years which may seem unnecessary at this point, but Cena’s career has to lead him to this.

After his shocking loss to the Undertaker at Wrestlemania, it would be foolish to have Cena return as a happy go lucky babyface.

Instead, WWE should push aside the cheap pop for character development, as Cena more than any other character has the true validation to turn on the fans, the wrestlers and even himself.

As for 15 years Cena has walked down the ramp and soaked in the disrespect, he has had his most exceptional work inside the squared circle still criticised, and he has seen most of his original fans betray him, this is a man that has seen his three core values insulted, disregarded and degraded.

WWE pulling the trigger on a Cena heel turn at this point his career might be perfect, and it can lead to other incorporated narratives being elevated and legitimised by Cena’s newly profound aggression.

Whether Cena is pursuing the WWE Title as an unruly heel, going after the Undertaker, or squashing fan-favourite superstars, WWE can turn this significant development into a massive storyline that can prove to be successful for the company.

This heel turn is not meant for fans to start liking Cena once again or for Cena to rejuvenate his career.

This retirement narrative is about a man who has been pushed too far, a man who has had his moral code insulted time and time again, and most importantly this is a man that knows his time is up in the company.

However, his time is now to leave a lasting impact that can shake the world of professional wrestling.

5 Times WWE Universe Rejected Roman Reigns

Enter c

Over the last few years, we have seen the WWE struggle to push Roman Reigns to the top over and over again.

This is not to say that he isn’t successful or doesn’t have fans, of course, he does. He is one of the top-selling superstars in the WWE, but when he walks out we hear boos more often than not.

Reigns likes to say that it makes him unique because he generates a strong response whether it’s positive or negative, but we have seen this before with superstars like John Cena.

They have spent a lot of time and money building the Big Dog as a character so let’s take a minute to look back at some of Reigns’ most triumphant moments, that didn’t go down well with the WWE Universe.

#1 Roman Wins the 2015 Royal Rumble

Enter capt

In 2015 Reigns came close to losing the Royal Rumble, but thankfully his “cousin” The Rock came out to save the day and help him win.

The returning hero had surprised everyone and helped Vince McMahon’s latest rising star clinch a huge victory that guaranteed him a spot at Wrestlemania, yet the audience turned on them.

Even The Rock was unable to hide his surprise at how the audience felt about Reigns’ victory.

In truth, it was a confusing finish which led some people to believe that The Rock was technically the last entrant.

This in addition to the fact that people wanted to see Daniel Bryan win and had been turned off from the match from the second that Bryan was eliminated. This victory started was the beginning of the phrase “If Roman Wins We Riot.”

#2 The Big Dog “Retires” the Undertaker

The Undertaker Retiring After Losing To Roman Reigns?

At Wrestlemania 33, Reigns took on the Undertaker to see who runs this yard. The fight was not particularly interesting.

It was not one of Undertaker’s better performances from the last few years and some critics described the fight as a squash match against an old man that just made you feel sad.

After Reigns won, the WWE Universe immediately accepted him and loved him as a new living legend…wait…that didn’t happen.

They rejected him immediately. He came out on Raw to address his victory and the WWE Universe refused to let him speak.

For about eight minutes they wouldn’t stop booing, until he said, “This is my yard,” and walked out to a chorus of boos.

He talked about the weight of being the person to retire the Undertaker, except that it didn’t stick and the Undertaker had came back to fight John Cena already and is committed to more matches. So it doesn’t look like that retirement was permanent.

#3 Rivalry with Braun Strowman

Roman Reigns as he's about to back an ambulance contain Braun Strowman into a production truck.

Braun Strowman is one of the strongest men in the world. Though his initial push wasn’t great, they always showed him to be a huge threat.

He really started to come into his character after the Superstar Draft split him from the rest of the Wyatt Family and he started doing Squash matches.

For months they built him up against Jobbers, Kalisto, and Sami Zayn, but no real competition like he demanded.

Finally, they put him against Reigns and the result was…frustrating.

It’s basically a rule from Vince McMahon that everyone has to make Roman Reigns look “strong.”

It was a complaint of CM Punk after leaving the company. So it gets difficult when you have a man that according to Physics shouldn’t have a problem taking on Reigns and keep pushing the smaller man as the stronger man.

The Monster Among Men proved his strength on multiple occasions including flipping an ambulance that Reigns was supposedly inside of and tossing his stretcher off a ledge like it was empty.

Every time Strowman would do something that was awe-inspiring, fans would find how Reigns actually snuck out before taking any damage.

This was topped off when Reigns drove the ambulance after their Ambulance match backstage and backing it into a production truck to try and kill Strowman.

Come on, he couldn’t have been thinking “this will take him out of action for a month.” If you have a wrestler doing what Reigns did, the intention must be murder which is a really weird way to get us to cheer for him.

“Yay, Reigns murdered Strowman?” No, this just got him more boos.

#4 Roman Reigns vs. The Miz

The Miz Recaptures the Intercontinental Title at Raw 25

This was another odd rivalry. It included two clear attempts to get Reigns over, neither of which worked out.

First of all this was a push to reform the Shield. Reigns is accepted by the most people when he is with Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins.

A lot of his biggest critics are huge fans of Rollins, so bringing them back together again brings those fans back into the fold.

In order for this to happen the Shield all needed to suffer embarrassing losses to the Miztourage.

Traditionally this would help garner empathy for the losing babyfaces, but the Miz is insanely popular right now.

He is the kind of cool heel that can make it hard for a babyface because the audience wants to be laughing along with the Miz and picking on whoever he is fighting.

The Miztourage was fresh and entertaining, while the Shield was an attempt to bring the old band back together again for a tour and make some money.

The highlight of Shield's reunion run and Roman Reigns was sick at home.

The fans enjoyed seeing the Miztourage grow in credibility and right when we thought we would get what we wanted, Reigns got sick and Kurt Angle took his place in Shield for a match against The Bar, The Miz, Kane, and Braun Strowman.

Upon returning momentum started to build again for the Shield until Ambrose was injured. This vacancy in the shield was filled for various shows by Jason Jordan and Triple H, but it wasn’t the real Shield so they jumped away from that idea again.

The second part of this plan was to gain respect for Reigns by making him a Grand Slam Winner after he wins the Intercontinental Championship from the Miz.

There were only two problems with this plan.

One, The Miz is more popular with the audience overall than the polarising Reigns as he had spent years elevating the Intercontinental Title and keeping it relevant, and two, this was close to Wrestlemania Season, so we needed Reigns to drop the belt almost immediately so that we could have it in a different match at Wrestlemania because we already knew he’s supposed to be fighting Lesnar.

So he dropped the belt back to the Miz at Raw’s 25th anniversary and the audience cheered as The Miz was dubbed champion.

#5 Wrestlemania 34: The Flipped Decision

Brock Lesnar hit the F5 on Roman Reigns 5 Times at Wrestlemania 34

It was common knowledge for the 2017-2018 season that Mr. McMahon planned on having Reigns face Lesnar again at Wrestlemania.

Finally, Lesnar would pass the torch to Reigns and the crowd would accept him as their new champion.

The promos leading up to this match were a rehash of the same stuff that has been used with the Rock and Cena.

“You don’t care about this company”

“You’ve gotta better things to do”

This was supposed to make fans support Reigns as the wrestler speaking up on behalf of the rest of the locker room.

This was to make fans turn on Lesnar. The problem is that fans WANT to see Lesnar have another UFC fight.

WWE may lose Lesnar, but as fans, we are able to still enjoy him as long as he’s being active somewhere, and the thought of him having another UFC fight only brings more credibility to him and the rest of the WWE, so the crowd’s dynamic wasn’t quite there.

This led to chants of “Boring” throughout the match and Boos as Roman kicked out of five F5’s (a move that downed Strauman on one hit).

We can’t be certain when McMahon flipped this script on Reigns as some reports indicate that Lesnar told the ref the outcome upon entering the ring.

This would mean that the Chairman of the WWE was able to tell that this was a bad idea before the match even started.

This isn’t even the first time that Mr. McMahon has done last minute changes to a Wrestlemania main event to have The Big Dog lose on the grandest stage of all, as Reigns thought he was going to beat Lesnar in his first Wrestlemania title shot, only to have Rollins get the honours at the last minute.

How Ronda Rousey stays in fighting shape

For Ronda Rousey, fitness is her life’s work. Staying in shape is a must for this former UFC fighter and current WWE wrestler. But have you ever wondered how much training goes into a body like Rousey’s? We have too. Luckily, we can provide some answers in this week’s episode of Off Season.

We all know that Rousey is extremely fit, and it’s no surprise that it takes serious dedication to become that strong and healthy, especially when training for a big fight. While in the UFC, Rousey went to a two-month training camp to get in shape before a bout. There, everything from her workouts and her diet to her sleep regimen was extremely controlled.

As for her workouts, Rousey practices judo, spars with a partner, and swims laps. When training for fights, she works out three to six times in a single day (and we complain about having to go to the gym once!). Sometimes her workout sessions last up to four hours. And if you want to try to train like Rousey, expect to burn more than 800 calories an hour of judo alone.

While the athlete trains six days a week, she leaves Sundays for self-care. She makes sure to take time for ice baths, physical therapy, seeing a chiropractor, and focusing on her mental health. A lot of pressure goes into big fights — even for a two-time Olympian!

Rousey is also highly committed to her new WWE role. According to Shape, she takes her diet very seriously and has even gotten blood and hair tests to find out which foods are best for her body. As for cheat meals, that’s a no-go. When she’s got her game face on, don’t expect to see the wrestler eating anything other than organic, healthy foods.

And it looks like whatever she’s doing is seriously working for her. Keep it up, girl!
